Free, independent, confidential advice on academic, welfare, housing and money issues — independent of the University. Mon–Fri 10am–4pm, drop-in Wed 10am–3pm, 3rd floor Students' Union.

Student-led, confidential listening service — nothing is too big or too small. Wed & Sat, 8pm–8am.

Free to call, anyone, any reason, 24/7 — you don't have to be suicidal to call.

Registers students living in Cathays, Roath, Heath, Gabalfa, Lakeside and Cyncoed (plus Cambrian Point, Liberty Living, Colum Hall and Roy Jenkins Hall) — register online before you need it, not after. Not in the area? Any GP surgery can register you; NHS 111 covers non-emergency medical advice any time.

Cardiff & Vale's sexual health service — STI testing, contraception and treatment. Under-18 walk-in Tuesdays 2–5pm, otherwise you'll be triaged by phone to book the right appointment — see cavuhb.nhs.wales for current numbers.

Order a free, discreet at-home test kit (chlamydia & gonorrhoea, or HIV/syphilis/hepatitis) from shwales.online — arrives in 3–5 days, negative results by text.

Cardiff University's hardship fund for students who can't cover essentials — rent, bills, food, equipment, an emergency laptop repair. Apply through your SIMS online account, or email if you need help with the form. Cardiff SU Student Advice (above) also covers day-to-day money and budgeting questions.
